How To Get There
The usual ways to get to Morzine from the UK are:
Fly to Geneva. There are flights to Geneva from Gatwick, Southampton, Birmingham, Luton, East Midlands, Teesside, Manchester, Cardiff, Heathrow...and many of these are low-cost flights. Then rent a car at Geneva (75 - 90 minutes driving from Geneva to Morzine) which can be quite cheap from Easy Jet. Easy Jet can provide snow tyres and ski racks on their cars. The car is likely to be useful for you at the chalet too (and there is a garage for one car + parking for 2 more). The garage and spaces are close to the road, which is cleared frequently by the council so you shouldn't have much snow shovelling to do. A pick-up typically costs from 40 Euros per person.
Another possibility is flying to Lyon but this is over 3 hours drive from Morzine. Some useful links are:
Drive via Calais. Driving time, excluding stops, is about 9 hours assuming you use the autoroutes (typical tolls about £30 one-way) from Calais. You might need snow chains for the last few miles.
There are buses to Morzine from the railway stations at Thonon and Cluses (TGV)
Directions to Finding the chalet once you get to Morzine
These apply whether you are coming from Cluses/Les Gets or Thonon.
Proceed right the way
through Morzine following the signs to Avoriaz. At the end of the town is a
roundabout, continue to follow the signs to Avoriaz.
About 100 metres after the roundabout there is a very sharp left hand bend.
Left at this bend is signposted Avoriaz, but you should go straight-on,
sign-posted "Vallée de la Manche". (If you find you are doing
S bends up the mountain, you have missed the turn.)
Go along this road for approximately a mile from the turning. This takes you past the sign to the Nyon lift. You will reach a hamlet sign-posted "La Boucherie". Chalet Thym Montagne (or Mountain Thyme) is about 200 metres from this sign on the left hand side. It is the middle chalet of a group of three and is clearly signed.
